Responsible use of the Internet at School
The Internet
Using the Internet can be great fun but like going into the town by yourself you can come across things you that upset you or you don't approve of.
Ask permission from an adult before going on-line
If you see anything you don't like or upsets you then hit the 'Back' button on your browser and don't go to that page again.
If it worries you then tell a parent or your teacher.
If you are using a site designed for children and you see something unsuitable, or something that upsets you then tell a parent or teacher.
They can contact the internet people and ask them to get it removed.
If a friend asks you to look at a page you are unsure of then use your common sense.
Remember, looking at something nasty may upset you and you may also get into trouble.
Remember, your computer remembers every page and image you have looked at so you cannot hide what you have seen.
Chat Rooms
Remember you can never be really sure exactly who are are chatting with on the Internet
Do not give personal information - address, telephone, your school or your real name
Do not send your picture to anyone that you do not know very well
Do not arrange to meet anyone
Do not arrange to phone anyone and do not let them phone you
Mobile Phones

do not give your mobile number to anybody other than those you know very well and can trust
If you get messages you don't like tell someone else about it - a teacher or parent
don't reply to any nasty messages
If you get a nasty message then keep it in your phone, don't delete it. Tell a parent or teacher.
Sending threatening or bullying text messages is a criminal offence that may result in the police being involved.
