From the headmaster:
The Final Week
Sports Day
We are all looking forward to an exciting sports day and a celebratory prize giving.  The forecast for Saturday is gloomy.  However, please assume that the sports day will go ahead as planned.  If it is wet when you wake up on Saturday you may phone the office after 9.00am to find out the latest news.  Delays may occur but we hope to hold the event as planned.

Jill Russell’s farewell
Yesterday’s tea party was a celebration of a great lady who has taught at Spring Grove for 12 years and shaped the future of many a pupil who has been taught by her.  She has brought an admirable rigour to the teaching at the school and has inspired us all by her energy and enthusiasm.  Tears were shed, happy memories were recalled and tokens of gratitude were presented by children and parents.  Thank you, Jill.

Mannix Stud Gymkhana
Yesterday afternoon’s gymkhana for the riders who participate in the after-school club riding activity was an event full of competitive fun.  It was terrific to witness the enthusiasm amongst the talented young riders and we hope to develop this event in next year’s programme.  The winning team’s rosettes will be presented in Friday’s assembly.

Leavers’ Show
The final few days are upon us and there are still many things to do, jobs to complete, school kit to find, rooms to tidy, etc.  It is important to maintain a focus on the activities to come.  We invite you to come to watch the Leavers’ Show which features the talents of Prep 6 together with members of the other senior classes.  There will be song and dance and laughter.  Guests should arrive for the shows on Monday and Tuesday at 7.00pm ready for a 7.30pm start.  The performance should be over by about 8.45pm.  Please note that the performers will be given a separate arrival time (between 6.30 and 7.00pm).

Orientation Morning
The children spent part of this morning together with their new teachers and new classes.  All went smoothly and gave an enticing taste of what is to come next year.
I will be writing to all parents next week giving full details of exciting staffing developments and building alterations that will be taking place over the summer.  I will also provide details of uniform changes that are required for the new year.
I will be writing to all parents next week giving full details of exciting staffing developments and building alterations that will be taking place over the summer.  I will also provide details of uniform changes that are required for the new year.  However, you will be sad to hear that we will be saying goodbye at the end of term to Darren Scott who has directed our sport for the last few years, Peter Moralee who has provided expert guidance and coaching, Carolyne  Lawlor, Sam Burton and Emma Cooper who have been integral to the success of the Foundation Stage.  I will say more to thank them for their contribution in next week’s letter.

Form 1 to Port Lympne
Last week Form 1 went on an exciting trip to Port Lympne Wild Animal Park. We had an African safari adventure and we watched the gorilla feeding followed by a really interesting talk from one of the keepers. After lunch we went and saw Tugar the Tiger in the flesh and had another talk about tigers. Tugar and his girlfriend, Ingrid, were very tired and slept during our visit, and their 2 cubs were hiding away from us in their shelter! We would like to say a huge thank you to Serena Courage for accompanying us for the day and doing so much to help organise such a wonderful day.

Saving Tugar the Tiger
Form 1 would like to say a big thank you to everyone who purchased key rings to help us raise money for Tugar the Tiger. We sold nearly 100 key rings and raised over £140 to donate to the animal park.

Form 3 to Luckley House
Form 3 visited Luckley House on Tuesday morning.  They entertained the ladies with songs, poems, jokes and music.  The ladies loved the poem The Day I Fell Down the Toilet and the Wee  poem in particular.  The children chatted with the ladies while they drank squash and ate biscuits.  The ladies said just how much they enjoyed Spring Grove visiting them.  Well done Form3!

Annabel Parker
Annabel and Sharon Parker would like to say a big thank you to you all, for your kind messages, cards and gifts.  They have been an enormous support for us, through what has been a very difficult time.
Annabel is recovering well, and is back to running fast down the ward and along corridors!
We send our love to you all, and wish you a healthy, happy wonderful summer holiday, and hope to see you soon.
