Communication is important. Please read...

Communication

At the moment we are putting effort and resource into improving our communication with parents. To do this we are trialling 3 new products:

1)      a text service to provide emergency information or reminders direct to your mobile phones

2)      an email survey product to help us become more aware of your views and opinions and

3)      an email marketing product to keep you informed about what is going on in the school

Letters are being sent to ensure that you receive instructions on how the improved service will improve all communications between school and home.  Important messages such as those about alterations in return times for school trips or emergency information will be delivered via texts direct to you.

Please bear with us if you feel you hear from us too often over the next month, this will be just while we get things up and running and work out with you what is most valuable.

Our latest Ofsted inspection took place in May 2009....

Our most recent Ofsted inspection took place in May 2009 and we were delighted that our inspectors thoroughly enjoyed their two days at the school.  They decided that our Early Years was outstanding in every respect.  They also declared that our upper part of the school was good with many outstanding features.  They loved the setting, they praised the expertise of the staff, they enjoyed the atmosphere in the school, they liked their school lunch, they found the children to be polite and full of pride for their school.  Please follow the link to gain access to the full report…Click Here

Mrs Groom provides a 5 Star Service!

Mrs Groom is a star... in fact, she and her team have earned the highest praise from our local health inspector who surprised her recently with a spot check of the kitchen.

We are all thrilled that she achieved a 5 star (outstanding) rating.  Mrs Groom and her team work tremendously hard to provide avaried, healthy diet and maintain the very best standards in the kitchen.  Congratulations!

Music Practiceathon raises over £500

The musicans of Spring Grove have been busy lately practising hard and in doing so, not only sharpening their own playing skills but also raising money for the CLIC Sargent Appeal, the charity dedicated to tackling children's cancer.

The children's efforts raised a whopping £574.30 with one young 7 year old, Angus Macmillan, personally raising £234.00!  A fantastic effort.

Music is thriving at Spring Grove and Mrs Jones, our Director of Music, is not only delighted with the enthusiastic singing throughout the school but also with the growth of instrumental playing.  Pictured is our junior string ensemble in rehearsal.

Kent Championships: 2 Golds, 1 Silver, 2 Bronzes...

A day to remember at the University of Kent's sports ground.  A day when the months of preparation bore fruit and the Spring Grove girls provided a glorious exhibition of team running

We won two individual bronzes through Arabella Saliba-Williams and Holly Fielder and had two further 4th places from Issy Wanstall and Emilie Knights-Toomer.  When you hear a parent from another school complain that "it's not fair" that Spring Grove seems to be winning everything you realise that the school has made a significant mark on the competition.  There were nearly 2000 competitors taking part in the 8 races and so to see our runners all doing so well is very encouraging.

The Year 3 team of Issy Wanstall (4th), Polly Langworthy (6th) and Elizabeth Fraser (14th) won gold by some distance.  The Year 4 team of Arabella Saliba-Williams (3rd), Anousca de Moubray (5th) and Hannah Moran (15th) were pipped to the gold by an excellent Wingham team by just 1 point!

The Year 5 team of Holly Fielder (3rd), Emilie Knights-Toomer (4th) and Ellie Saxby (15th), who ran an amazing second lap, rounded off the triumph by winning gold in brilliant style.

Medals were presented by ex-international athlete, Michelle Griffiths-Robinson who was obviously charmed by the headmaster's banter!
