Thinking of Moving to Kent?
Spring Grove School lies in a beautiful rural setting on the outskirts of the village of Wye, at the foot of the North Downs which is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village is overlooked by the famous Wye Crown, cut into the chalk to commemorate the coronation of Edward VII in 1902. A whole school walk to the Wye Crown is often a highlight of our Summer term at Spring Grove!
Wye village and its surroundings
Wye is an extremely popular place for families, with excellent amenities including a range of shops, a Farmers’ Market, pubs, cafes and hotels, a library, a surgery and a station that connects the village towards Canterbury and the coast in one direction, and London in the other. Surrounding villages include Hinxhill, Hastingleigh, Brook, Waltham and Crundale.
Spring Grove is part of the Wye community and is involved in village life – for example our children frequently visit the residents of the local retirement home, the school uses Wye Church for Christmas and Easter services, and Spring Grove was proudly represented at the Wye Coronation festivities in 2023.
Ashford and Canterbury
Only three miles southwest lies the thriving town of Ashford, with its high-speed train connection to London St Pancras (38 minutes), making it an ideal choice for those who need to commute for work. Twelve miles in the other direction lies the cathedral city of Canterbury, with the cathedral’s UNESCO World Heritage Site at the centre of its medieval walled city. With its three universities and thriving arts scene, Canterbury offers a wide range of opportunities for its local community. Performing in Canterbury Cathedral is always a highlight for the pupils at Spring Grove!
Many Spring Grove families live locally to school. For those in Wye, it is easy to walk to school across the field from the station. Others come from further afield, including Canterbury, Faversham, Folkestone, Hythe and Tenterden. We run a school minibus service every morning Monday-Thursday – for more information please contact Mrs Peirson, our Assistant Bursar, on 01233 812337 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
