All children have a natural curiosity – we tap into that in school science lessons. Our emphasis is on enjoyable practical lessons that encourage a sense of enquiry and give the children lots of opportunities to explore and experiment. In Key Stage 1, science is taught by the form teacher as part of the general curriculum. In Key Stage 2, from Prep 3 to Prep 6, the children are taught by a specialist school science teacher in a purpose-built classroom.
The science classroom is fully equipped to cover all abilities up to the National Curriculum level 6. Science clubs give pupils an opportunity to experience topics that lie beyond the scope of the syllabus such as surface tension, hydroponics, acids and alkalis, and elements.
Regular visits from organisations such as Zoolab help to bring science alive for all of our children.
